5. The Devil Went Down to Georgia can be performed quite effectively on piano.
4. Somewhere along the line our culture went horribly awry, choosing to try to embarrass people on their birthdays rather than celebrate them.
3. Soduku was invented by an American, not a Japanese, and first published in the United States, not Japan.
2. Seattle's smoking ban did nothing to eliminate drunken idiots.
1. The good vibe of your birthday celebration at a dueling piano bar can be shattered as easily as your girlfriend's rear car window, and stolen as quickly as your gift-wrapped birthday present and her leather jacket.
Ok, what was done to embarass you? Sorry to hear about the window and theft - that sucks.

4. I absolutely agree. It isn't helped by the fact that businesses can't sing "Happy Birthday" to patrons without paying royalties each time.
3. It is too bad that the originator labored in obscurity. A rather inspirational story for folks who design games/puzzles as a part time hobby though.
2. No, and prohibition proved that the only place you can go from here is drunken criminal idiots, fortunately we mostly get to choose our friends.
1. That really, really sucks.
Hope the good vibe comes back today.
Posted by: Brian on December 11, 2005 3:02 PMMan, that blows. I feel your pain.
Posted by: Nathan Beeler on December 12, 2005 12:56 AMMajor suckiness.
You probably remember this story, but we had wrapped presents stolen from our house many years ago. It doubly sucks because what with insurance & police & so forth, you have to ask the giver what the present was and are thus deprived of the fun of opening it.
Our only consolation was that the gift was a set of Rocky & Bullwinkle tapes, and I admit I always enjoyed imagining the look on the petty thief's face upon discovering that.
Oh, and I suppose it's a little late to be wishing you a "happy birthday". =)
Posted by: Dug Steen on December 12, 2005 7:40 AMCrap! When did that happen (the broken window)?
As for the birthday - it does make for some interesting pictures. I suspect the Guy With The Hat won't ever forget this one.
Posted by: Grubs on December 12, 2005 1:15 PMOh, no.
Just reading #5 ensures a vibe-less afternoon for me (not that I any kind of vibe to start with, it being a gray overcast Monday).
Best Birthday Wishes, even more than before.
Posted by: Bruce on December 12, 2005 1:21 PMYikes! That's terrible. I'm sorry to hear that your birthday celebration ended on such a low note. Happy Birthday, and best wishes for better days ahead.
Posted by: Don Munsil on December 12, 2005 3:01 PMoh, peter. i'm so sorry that the night ended that way.
