Chortle

Laugh-out-loud moment from last week's The Simpsons:

Homer: "I'm going to hide you where there's nobody around for miles: Disney's California Adventure!"

Some people think that "The Simpsons" has fallen off from being the magnificent program it was for many years, and they may be right. But sometimes, every once in a while, you get a line like that where you just have to stop what you're doing for a minute and laugh. I knew there was a reason I enjoy the daily reruns so much.

The article at http://www.msnbc.com/news/988733.asp indicates that one of the things that has happened to guide the show away from Homer-centric gag-fests is the return of Al Jean (veteren who ran the show during its third and fourth seasons).

The article repeats that it's probably impossible to revert Homer back to his early days, when he still somewhat resembled a human being, because of the many years of "Jerkass Homer" that have passed since. Personally, I don't care how many years pass; this new Homer still seems like some kind of buffoonish, mean-spirited alien creature who has descended on Springfield to torture it. For me, a sudden return to the original, sympathetic Homer would be less difficult to endure than another season of the monster he's become.

The Simpsons, I fear, have entered their "Godfather Part III" phase.
